Ecological Project
Based on our company philosophy, we have been working for many
years to promote naturally-grown raw materials in an environment-friendly
way. This also entailed converting existing Sri Lanka and India
plantations into eco-friendly yet economically viable land utilization
projects.
After two years of most intense preparation, the project starts
in 1996. Pioneering this project was the MAL Group of Companies
along with many other experts from different agricultural and
research institutes.
The project aims at utilizing the land in an environment-friendly
and ecomonical way. Eco-friendly cultivations with their nearly
fully closed cycles help to protect the most valuable natural
resources: soil, water and air.
To the founders of this project, it was important that reputable
and recognized research institutes committed themselves to this
project, too, to function as efficient and cost-conscious as possible.
One of the main objectives was to change the existing soil into
a living organism which could bring forth plants without any artificial
fertilizer being applied to it.
E.g. in Sri Lanka, more than 70% of all latex and cocos harvested
is produced by small farmers. Therefore, the project is indeed
ideal for Sri Lanka and India, as it is easily set going by small
farmers and not by big plantations!
